Everyone loves a good burger. In sunny San Diego, where great food is everywhere, a number of excellent burger joints exist for the excitement and delight of heavy grubbers. Some are ridiculous in flavor and size, while others are timeless and pristine in form. Food blogger Warren Van Dam shares six of San Diego’s most extraordinary burgers.

The Drugstore Burger by The Grill at Torrey Pines is beloved by many for its classic American taste. Its simplistic and classic approach to burger-making has had the food industry fall in love with it. The Santana Burger grilled by Public House in La Jolla is one ridiculous burger. Made with New Zealand wagyu beef patty, grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, jalapeno, melted gruyere cheese, and a homemade 1000-island dressing, the Santana is a sure win.

Rocky’s Crown Pub is the finest partner to every sports game, or any event for that matter. Locals consider the pub’s burger as the best one in town for its simplicity and unparalleled flavor. Inventive and flavorful, The Friendly’s Dirty Flat Top Cheeseburger costs only $5, a rarity nowadays. With two patties smashed so hard on the grill together, the result is a crispy slider covered in melted cheese and slightly crunchy buns.

According to Warren Van Dam the star of Madison on Park’s burger is a patty made of Angus beef that’s seared and slid into a light brioche bun. For some classic taste, order 619 Spirits’ Classic Cheeseburger best paired with the distillery’s cocktails, vodka slushies, and vodkas.
